Betable is an, on-line betting and social networking start-up set to introduce a peer-to-peer betting exchange. Betable promises to change the paradigm of how we bet on-line. Betable is the first marketplace for social betting where you can create your own bets on any topic or event that you care about and invite your friends to bet with you--think of it as eBay for betting with a social twist.
The teams consists of a talented and experienced internet business and engineering group, whose members have been on the founding teams of some of the most successful and notable business on the web.
Bios of Individuals Attending:
Christopher E. Griffin (Founder & CEO): Analyst at a Private Equity/Venture Capital healthcare boutique focused on the orthopaedic industry. He secured $43 million in funding, an industry record, for Small Bone Innovations. Mr. Griffin is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Economics and English.
Jeff Winner (CTO): Jeff is a serial entrepreneur having led many successful Silicon Valley start-ups. He was CTO of Spock Networks - www.spock.com . Jeff was also VP of Engineering at Friendster - www.friendster.com . Jeff graduated from MIT in 1985 with two undergraduate degrees and a master’s degree in software engineering.
Jay Shek (CFO): Served as Marketing Manager and Finance Lead at Snapfish (www.snapfish.co.uk ). Jay graduated from the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a degree with a B.S. from the Wharton School in business and a B.S.E. from the School of Engineering.
Amit Kumar (VP of Engineering): was Founder & CTO at Kush Marketing, an online marketing consulting firm (www.kushmarketing.com ). He was a senior software developer at Microsoft, leading development efforts on MS Office. Amit graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, in computer science and engineering.
Andrew Bortz (Engineer): Andrew is a computer science PhD candidate on leave from Stanford University. He has consulted for Google and Microsoft to make the Internet safer by the discovery and correction of systemic flaws in browsers. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Computer Science and Mathematics.
Ben Shemie (Head of Betting Markets): Started a company based in Abu Dhabi, to facilitate the expansion of luxury high end Western brands to the Middle East. Prior to this, he was an equity trader at UBS covering European markets for 4 years in London. Ben graduated from UCL with a degree in Economics.
